About a year ago, I met a girl that I began to fall in love with. In the short time I knew her, the Lord began to teach me so many things. My heart bubbled and was excited about the relationship. I realized that the emotion a man feels toward a woman is similar to the way Christ feels toward His Bride, the Church. We get a small glimpse of this amazing love Christ has for His Church through the marriage of a man and woman. What an incredible gift! Ephesians 5 talks about this amazing mystery. Men are called to love their wives as Christ loves the Church, and women are called to submit to their husbands, as to the Lord. This is a glorious picture of the Church submitting to the Lord Jesus, the Head of the Church. The meaning in this song is two-fold. First of all, I’m thankful for women and the gift they are to men. Women are made in the image of God just as men are, yet men and women have their glorious differences. Both displaying God’s glory! Secondly, as I may or may not fall in love with one of God’s daughters down the road, I pray that my affection for her would be like Christ’s self-sacrificial affection for the Church, and I also pray that I would in turn love God’s Church, His Bride, in the same way He loves His Bride. I am apart of the Bride of Christ, and I want to be apart of the maturing of that glorious Bride until Christ comes to marry us!
lyrics
I’m falling in love with God’s daughter
A beautiful pearl of great price
The Lord’s love for her is far greater than mine
But He’s teaching me how to love
In the same way you’re teaching me to love your daughter
I want to love your Church
The Bride of Christ for whom you gave your life
I want to lay down my life for Her
No greater love has there ever been or will ever be
That God would give His only Son to buy a slave like me
We were unfaithful like a whore
But he was still faithful revealing His Name
Here she comes, pure and spotless
Forever yours we are

It may not be a full-fledged LP, but All Delighted People is probably my favourite of Sufjan's works. Without an overaching album theme to tie the songs together, it felt like Sufjan was free to experiment on each track and give them their own unique sound. And because of that (and Sufjan's talent), every track on there is a standout track. Angkasawan
