While preparing to lead a Bible Study on the topic of Adoption in scripture, I found myself weeping over the Father's great love for us. 1 John 3 talks of the deep love of the Father that He lavished upon us. The scriptures talk about how before the world began, before time existed, the Father adopted people into a loving Family. His Family. We were separated and were orphans because of our sin. This is a miracle and it brought me to tears because of the price my adoption cost. Before I had done anything good, and with full knowledge of the treason that I would commit against Him, God chose me to be in His family. The price for me was the highest price possible. The eternal Son of God had to be crushed in my place. His blood had to be shed so that I could be The Lord Jesus' brother, and His Father could be mine. Now, as a son of God in Christ, I worship the Father with my mouth and my life.
lyrics
Oh to understand my place in your family
How deep the Father’s love for us
That we could be His Sons
Who gave His only Son to purchase us, His enemies
But Jesus gladly bore the cross
And shed His blood
So we could be His brothers
So His Father could be ours
His brothers, and that is what we are
I love, I love, I love you Daddy
I love you
Thank you for paying the price
Thank you for picking me
Thank you for adopting me into the family
I love you, Daddy.
As I talk to Papa I see Jesus smiling over me
Full of joy, He says to me, “you were worth it all
All the pain, all the shame and suffering, it was my joy”
Father smiles as Jesus and says
“We had a good plan”
So they could be your brothers
So His Father could be ours
Your brothers
And that is what we are
My heart leaps for joy
The Spirit of God within me
Let’s Dance together, Yahweh
Until you return for us
And for all eternity
Hallelujah!

It may not be a full-fledged LP, but All Delighted People is probably my favourite of Sufjan's works. Without an overaching album theme to tie the songs together, it felt like Sufjan was free to experiment on each track and give them their own unique sound. And because of that (and Sufjan's talent), every track on there is a standout track. Angkasawan
